“The Mash” – Rabbi Chaim Yisroel Blumenfeld – Rosh Yeshiva
The Mash is a world renowned educator specializing in post high school teens and young adults. His unique teaching style and his caring for each student has helped him successfully shape the lives of thousands of graduates. Together with his dedicated staff he has encouraged them to focus on worthwhile goals and make worthwhile choices.
The Mash received Smicha from Ner Israel Rabbinical College and a Masters in Talmudic Law.
Prior to coming to Israel he served as assistant principal of Mesivta High School in Miami Beach and educator at the St. Louis Rabbinical College and the Israel Rabbinical college of Toronto. Since 1978 Mash has served since as dean, spiritual advisor and Rebbe.
Rabbi Avraham Falk – Menahel
Rabbi Falk has extensive experience helping post high school students deal with various concerns and issues at this crossroads in their lives. Rabbi Falk builds up strong relationships with the students and advises them on major decisions in their lives. He works together with the Mash in encouraging students to make worthwhile life decisions and move forward. Rabbi Falk also travels frequently to the States to recruit potential students.
Rabbi Falk received smicha from Yeshivas Tifereth Avraham and a degree in Talmudic Law from the Israel Torah Research Institute
Rabbi Avraham Schwab – Mashgiach
Rabbi Schwab’s care and concern for each student is one of the legendary hallmarks of our yeshiva. For the past 27 years Rabbi Schwab has addressed the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of each student and has monitored his personal progress and growth. Rabbi Schwab impresses on the students the understanding that Neveh Zion is not simply one yeshiva catering to many students. Each student should view Neveh as his own personal Yeshiva and be accommodated accordingly. He strives to ensure that each student’s needs are being met and is their mentor, confidante and friend.
Rabbi Schwab is from a family of Torah giants and his father was mashgiach of the Yeshiva Gedola of Gateshead. He learned for 5 years at the Gateshead Yeshiva and then for 12 years at the Mirrer Yeshiva in Jerusalem. While leaning at the Mir Yeshiva he became ben bayis at the homes of the Roshei Yeshiva – Rav Chaim Shmulevitz, Rav. Nachum Perzovits and Rav Beinish Finkel.
Rabbi Avraham Friedman
For the past 12 years Rabbi Avraham Friedman has been the driving force behind the student body. He is a graduate of Yeshiva University and received smicha from Rabbi Mordechai Friedlander. Rabbi Friedman is both Rebbe, friend and confidante. He is available constantly to the students to provide advice and support for all their needs.
Rabbi Friedman teaches the GED and ulpan classes at Neveh. He also arranges the outward bound activities and accompanies the students on all trips and Shabbatonim. Rabbi Friedman’s advice and influence enable the student body to run smoothly and efficiently.
Rabbi Sternberg
Rabbi Sternberg is a Rebbe and father figure to the students. He believes in his talmidim and encourages their Jewish awareness, pride and overall growth. He is a talmid chacham in his own right, a true role model and gains the respect of the students due to his sincerity and caring. Rabbi Sternberg is a close confidante and friend to the students and his talmidim remain in close contact with him seeking his guidance long after they leave.
Rabbi Sternberg studied at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary Kollel For Advanced Jewish Studies and at Yeshiva University where he received his B.S. cum laude. In Israel he spent an intensive year of study, which included learning Hilchot Gittin under Dayan ElieEliezer Cohen, former chairman of the RCA Bet Din, and studied at the Machon le-Technologiah ve-Halakha (Institute for technology and Halakhah) in Jerusalem. He studied further at Yeshiva Torah Ore in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Felman
Rabbi Felman is both Rebbe and confidante. For the past 22 years he has given daily shiurim on topics of interest to the students and meets with them privately to provide a listening ear and give advice where necessary. He leads our yearly Poland trip ensuring that the boys gain as much as possible from this experience and is our Baal Tefillah during the Yamim Noraim.
Previously, Rabbi Felman learned in Torah Vedaas and is a musmach of Rav Pam and Rav Zelig Epstein. He has a degree in teaching from Torah Umesorah and is an experienced Mohel.
Rabbi Charlop
Rabbi Charlop draws on his vast experience in teaching and influencing teenagers and builds strong and lasting relationships with the boys becoming their Rebbe and friend. Rabbi Charlop tutors both the first and second year boys and helps them make worthwhile choices during this period in their lives. His influence extends even after they have left Neveh and he runs a successful alumni program in the Catskills during the summer months. Rabbi Charlop sets up the program for our trips, coordinates the Old City Shabbaton and is the driving force behind our yearly trip to Poland.
Rabbi Charlop received smicha from Rabbi Shrya Dublitsky from Bnei Brak. He also holds a B.Sci from Empire State College, NY.
Rabbi Price
Rabbi Price is known for his “Priceless Sichot,” which he tries to be a living example. He is also known for his bright smile despite his various challenges, and for giving over mussar in such a loving way out of care and concern for the student.
Rabbi Price attended the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School (R.J.J.) through High School, Yeshivah Chofetz Chaim, Monsey, and the Mir Yeshivah Central Institute in Brooklyn, before coming to Israel 33 years ago.
Rabbi Prager
World renown in his outreach ability Rabbi Prager learns and counsels the boys on a daily basis. His ability to connect with students is legendary and he is extremely successful in reaching out to them and gaining their confidence.
Rabbi Prager travels frequently to the States to interview potential students. He also also maintains contact with the alumni and remains a strong guiding force in their lives.
Rabbi Prager has been working for the past 20 years. He is also very involved in ensuring our financial stability and success.
Rabbi Prager is a musmach of the Yeshiva of Karlin in Yerushalayim and is a close confidante of the Karliner Rebbe
Rabbi Slavin
There are few people who can exemplify the spirit, goals and triumphs of our Yeshiva as much as Rabbi Slavin. He has been described as an “educator who elevates his talmidim without sacrificing his own growth in avodas Hashem”. While a student at he decided to dedicate himself to inspire and motivate other boys to reconnect to Hashem. It was during those years that he formulated his approach to accomplish his mission.
Rabbi Slavin continued his yeshiva learning both in the States and in Israel where he received smicha. He has proven himself time and again as an educator who can reach even the most uninspired student. To our students he is a friend, confidant and a trusted mentor.
Rabbi Sudranski
Rabbi Sudranski first made his acquaintance with the yeshiva in 1999 as a student, and has never looked back. From studying at the feet of Rabbi Felman and the rest of our senior faculty, to now teaching alongside them, Rabbi Sudranski embodies the ideals, lessons and values of the yeshiva. Although he does not make the chulent in his home for Shabbos, he does do the sponja.
Rabbi Eli Behar
Rabbi Eli Behar is the backbone of our therapy department. He received his Smicha from Rav Zalman Nechemya Goldberg and worked in the Rabbinate in Cincinnati , Ohio . He received his Masters in social work from the University of Cincinnati in 2004 and has since been involved extensively in educating teenagers and young adults. Rabbi Behar has shown great success in reaching our students. He is able to quickly gain their trust and has enabled them to change direction and achieve success.
